French Kitchen- Decorative painting

The talented Carole Da-Cruz, the French Brush

Decorative painters add so much to a room - Take a look!

I took some pictures of Carole painting the design on the stove hood.

We designed the image then she drew it on the hood.

The finished Hood! Just what the client and I wanted.

Also, she did the black board -
So much talent!

The French Kitchen-
(an update on a 10 year old kitchen)

Show me some of your updates dear readers.

Happy New Year- The Chinese way

Dragons are hot! And not just because they breathe fire.
There’s that girl with the tattoo heating up the multiplexes.
And now, here comes the Year of the Dragon.
. . . twisting dragon dancers, the staccato explosions of firecrackers and traditional Chinese food.
The Year of the Dragon, which begins Today, 1/23/2012- isn’t just any old Lunar New Year.
The dragon is considered to be the luckiest symbol in the Chinese zodiac.

Happy Year of the Dragon, dear readers

Love, Peggy

French Kitchen - Table

French Kitchen

This is a table(before it is finished)
we made the table to the clients specifications.

Same table different angle.

Finished table at client's home.
I had the bottom painted the same color(yellow) as the cabinets.

We did this kitchen for this client 10 years ago.
A little touch-up was needed.
The walls were painted a deep blue, a new kitchen table made.
Viola! A new feeling kitchen.

One of the banquets (+ a wonderful Doggie)

A plate rack & one of the chandeliers that hang over the island.

This is a wonderful old house with a fabulous view.
(another banquet)

I had slipcovers made for the dining room chairs.

A great way to use extra chairs!

This is my idea of a French kitchen-
Next time I will show you other images of the kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by.

Love,
Peggy

Year of the Dragon - Make a wish

Year of the Dragon

Chinese New Year Day is on January 23, 2012.

They have fabulous parades in China Towns all over.
I have been to the parade in Los Angeles before and it was beautiful.

The Joss paper that I adore, for writing down your intentions for 2012
and your gratitude for all your blessings in 2011.

This paper comes in many colors - I happen to love this one.

A group of women got together for my ritual of writing intentions for 2012
and Gratitude for the many blessings of 2011.

On the Joss paper ( write on the front or back),
you may write on as many pieces as you would like - There are no rules!

Burn those 2011 Gratitudes and 2012 Intentions!

This sends them up to the heavens - gods/spirits

We used my friends fireplace to burn the Joss paper. For those who don't have a fireplace (like moi), you can use the dish from under a plant.  Just take it outside to burn and be careful!

Thank you C!

I adore rituals

(maybe that is my Catholic dad signing in!)

How are you planning to celebrate the Chinese New Year? Or did you?

I would love to hear, dear readers.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!

Lavender, not Pantone color of the year

Pantone color of 2012 is Tangerine Tango. However, while I don't have anything against orange (it is not a favorite), I prefer colors like Farrow & Ball's Red Earth or Ointment pink, which are slightly subdued colors with lots of orange in them.
I like to use orange accents with lavender.

Here are some of my tried and true great lavenders.

Farrow & Ball - Cinder rose
Sherwin Williams - Brave Purple, Wisteria & Magical
YOLO (Eco friendly paint) - Air.07

Lavender goes with almost anything.
Green, yellow, blue, orange, white, taupe, red any color!

You can see a client's home where I used Lavender in the master bedroom & adjoining bath + the living room in the last 4 pictures.

So tell me what is your favorite color?

I would like to hear from you.

Love,

Peggy
